Anti-depressant and programming: does it reduce your thinking and focusing abilities? @Malfist, I guess I wasn't clear. I was merely trying to say those of us that sit 8-10 hours a day, should move 30-60 minutes as well. And my through personal experience, I feel better. I wasn't advocating it as a solution or answer, at least completely. I would have 'answered' in that case. I was trying to put my $0.02 in a comment. |

Anti-depressant and programming: does it reduce your thinking and focusing abilities? IMHO, anyone who takes on a sedentary career should involve themselves in physical activity. I don't think it takes a psychologist to see that. Try 2-3 weeks of activity for yourself and see if you don't feel at least somewhat better. I can speak from my own experience, being only a developer who runs. (sometimes at lunch to clear my head during a hectic day) |

Separate servers vs local machine for builds, issue tracking etc on solo project I would add a pro for separate server is you know you have everything under source control. You can't forget to commit something. |

Is SourceSafe really safe? With all the alternatives, it's hard to justify using, because when it goes south, that's what you'll have: Nothing. |

How do you take notes at a meeting? Couple solutions. As stated, I use mind mapping software for the iPad. I got used to typing on the iPad, but you can use a wireless keyboard. It takes some getting used to. YMMV. |

Crunch-time Sleep Deprivation: Survival Strategies? @Paul, from my experience (and guessing a few others), sometimes we (the lowly devs) don't have the option to cut back to 40-50 hours. The dead lines are put in place by powers beyond our control. When it happens, yes you have the option to quit, but is that really an option until the project is done? I hate missing my kids, time at home, sleep, etc... I respect your answer, but in some scenarios some of us just have to. |

Crunch-time Sleep Deprivation: Survival Strategies? @Benjol, thanks. I tend to use dark humor in these situations as well. There tend to be quite a few "I'm not dead yet!" quips, plus an abundance of Office Space quotes. |
