While I don't encourage it, it is still possible to write a WPF application WinForms-style with events and code behind. For simple one-off apps, it's not a big deal. It comes down to what you value and what provides value to the business. I am a big fan of TDD and MVVM, but if it really isn't providing value, don't do it. It's not a religion. Just remember that code often lives a lot longer than we think it will.
