I have been writing software on the .NET platform since about 2001. Since that time I've worked on lots of systems including web portals, asset management, ERP, CRM, content management, email, and SOA. I credit my love of research and the bleeding edge with a stint at Microsoft Product Support, where I learned how to learn about technology.

Dependency Injection and Singleton. Are they two entirely different concepts? DI cannot replace Singleton any more than a banana could replace a carburetor. They're completely different concepts. |

Dependency Injection and Singleton. Are they two entirely different concepts? Singleton is a design pattern. DI/IoC is a technique. |

Software Developer Interview Question - Fair or Unfair @payne: ROFL! Did you send him a counter-invoice for the time you spent interviewing him? |

Software Developer Interview Question - Fair or Unfair +1 for "now you know what to study." The LAST thing an employer wants is a staff that has their "not my job" speech perfected. |

Does Silverlight have a future? @Martinez: I strongly recommend taking anything Scott Barnes has to say with a whole shaker of salt. I've been following Mr. Barnes verbal diarrhea until lately, when I removed his blog from my reader and unfollowed his Twitter account. There's too much acrimony and bad vibe in his messaging. I think he's a classic case of sour grapes (former Microsoft program manager edged out, likely at least in part, because of his clearly bad attitude.) |

Finding the time to program in your spare time? Amen to the wife and three kids... same here. Routine is best, also helps if Wife 2.0 is understanding! |

Am I too young to be worrying about college right now? @cletus: We do have technical colleges here in the states, the most recognizable being ITT Tech and Devry. They're somewhat derided and generally not held in very high regard, but like you said, if you apply yourself and graduate it doesn't really matter where it was or how good your grades were. |

Do you think natively compiled languages have reached their EOL? +1: VMs != interpreted. JITters still compile down to machine code at runtime. |
