I currently work at ADTRAN, and no longer do consulting. I have years of experience doing embedded software development in C and C++. I also do work in Python and have gained quite a bit of expertise using it over the last 5-6 years, and I have dabbled in Haskell to learn the functional programming paradigm in my spare time.

Lately, I have been doing a lot of python development, but now I'm learning Scala.

Hopefully, the lower level dependencies should have their own set of unit tests. Layer the unit tests at each level. When you go up a level, mock out the lower level.
