comment What can multiple threads do that a single thread cannot?
Since you brought up a "proof", I can't prevent myself from "well, actually..."ing you. I think you are abusing the notion of computability. The proof is a cute thing and I get your point, but it's not really at the right abstraction level. Not being able to do things is not the same as not being able to compute, e.g., you cannot use your proof to say, because Turing machine can compute "every computable function", it can do it in 3 seconds. Strictly speaking, a single threaded machine without interrupts cannot access I/O while keeping its processor busy doing computation.

comment Is dynamic language always interpreted?
@Darien Nothing prevents a compiler from storing a symbol table information in the compiled binary and generating code to access that at run time. It's true that some languages lend themselves to interpretation more than compilation, but the whole point is it's possible to have a compiler for that language. Another important thing to note is that some people assume a compiler has to generate some sort of machine code. In practice, there are compilers that simply perform a source level transformation across two languages (or even the same language, like some Javascript minifiers).

@Darien You can compile that at run time as well and execute code afterwards. Strictly speaking, it's not interpretation.

comment I can get visual studio for free through school, should I?
You may be able to get it directly from dreamspark.com instead of going through the "trouble" of getting it from school.
