comment Is there an excuse for short variable names?
There is a smell in this code, don't make a variable description of an action. Variables do not execute actions, while function execute actions. The variable should describe what the data represent, and "counter" is an action. While "ArrayIndex", is a better way to describe it, while there is another smell in that, where you don't smurf naming, or better yet, Hungarian nutation, unless you REALLY HAVE TO, so Index, would be better. of Position. do you get it?

comment Should every member of a team use the same IDE?
@Arafangion thats half an answer. why do people here think that using a unique tool is bad(the first part you didn't answer), while people here think that using a unique tool is fine(that is the second part you did answer).

comment Should every member of a team use the same IDE?
i don't get people here. they say an internal ide is bad, and uniform ide is bad. so ide should be uniform to all programmers, but not to all programmer that work on the same project. HUH?! I DON'T GET IT!

IDE is not really an editor, because you don't use "Notepad.exe". you need extra work done by IDE, and ide does not have standards, which makes things difficult to use the external ability. and if you ment that hex edit is just "text editor" then code is not just text.

serializeable is the best example. other examples are based on other empty interfaces that you "implement" just for the sake of saying, yea, this object is.

comment Simple method for reliably detecting code in text?
Did you data mind the database to find out all entries that were "just add block syntax", that is 4 spaces before lines and try to take the rule out of them?

there is no need to implement everything, as there is no real need to explain everything. if that was his case, parts of the interface were redundant he would picked it up immediately.
