Why PHP doesn't support function overloading?
This isn't overloading. There is still only one definition/declaration of the function. This would be equivalent to va_list / va_arg in C++. Can you solve some of the same problems? Yes. But it still isn't overloading.
How do you balance between “do it right” and “do it ASAP” in your daily work?
Scotty's strategy works. Just don't let your boss know you're doing this. Often times the time it takes in reality is double. It's always better to finish early than late.
