comment Writing the minimum code to pass a unit test - without cheating!
Personally I'd write it with a check and a note: if (input == 5) return 120; throw new ArgumentOutOfRange("TODO fix this"); or similar. If the desire is to just make the icons green, how is that different than adding 'tests' that are Assert.IsTrue(true). However if its to mock up that function so you can work on other parts it is fully legit.

+1 for "unit testing is only complete when all tests pass and no new tests can be written that will fail" Many people are saying its legit to return the constant, but don't follow with "for the short term", or "if the overall requirements only need those specific cases"

comment Should we always unit test bugs when correcting them?
Is that error case relevant to the new design? To me part of a new design would be to increase reliability of the design, so you might be able use that to justify removing this test case if this type of bug was anything to do with a mistake in the original design.

1. I'd say in english the default pronoun is masculine, typing "he or she" all the time would be proper but more effort than most people want to put forth. 2. What percentage of programmers are female? In this case defaulting to masculine has statistics on its side... So I'd imagine its more just using the default simple way to refer to a random individual, not specifically assuming they are male or female.

comment When is unit testing inappropriate or unnecessary?
@SteveBennett It should be only "If the requirements will need modification, the tests will also cost more"

Slightly off topic, but any sources for tips on writing tests that "end up bloated, awkward, and difficult to maintain"?
