comment Tips on Converting a C program to Pure Python
This doesn't adresses any of the questions about reading the C application, though. While IronPython and Jython object creation strategies are interesting, I doubt they have any bearing on this specific scenario; it is almost certain that the OP is using CPython as otherwise they'd have known to mention they don't.

You are not answering the question however; which is why JS didn't have that right from the start. Eric's answer addresses that, including when <object>.constructor.prototype is available. And unless your post adds significantly to answering the why question, I don't think we need more answers here.

Those that say that regular expressions are not fast are qualifying their answer. Like Regular expressions are not always faster than a simple search. It all depends on context. Then go on to actually answer the question posted. If you have seem to have a specific situation; you could talk about that specific situation (provided it is novel and adds something new to the context here), but take into account that this question has already been thoroughly answered. 7 answers is quite enough.

comment Python, namespace vs module with underscores
So you identified several very specific issues that limit how you can use namespaces. I never ran into the pip issue (I never install packages as editable with pip as I use buildout for that usecase). Don't use a shared namespace in that case, you are not forced to. That has little to do with performance however.

So? That doesn't make a difference to how you import them.

Not sure what you mean by but on pypi, independent packages are saved in different location.. Can you please elaborate on that?
