@MartijnPieters Easier to use strings in REPL ... don't have to create a datetime.date, then call the function. Question still stands even if I switched to datetime.date: do I just allow datetime.date or also allow strings?

I disagree on both counts. The FAQ says this is a forum for programmers to talk about software development, not about being programmers. Also, via the assumption and the example, I believe I provided enough context that people knew to focus on similar disciplines. 18 people upvoted this question...how far out of bounds could it have been?
