comment Is creating subclasses for specific instances a bad practice?
Thinking of classes as real-life "objects" is a absolutely terrible idea and will bite you in the ass in the form of unmanageable code. Classes are bundled functionality, a person, a battery or a tree all have absolutly nothing to do with functionality.

comment Why don't developers make installation wizards on linux?
@WesleyWiser Packages are usually for stable versions, not for development versions.

@WesleyWiser Repositories are managed by third parties, as a developer you can't just submit a new version. A Windows installer is created by the author of the application itself, thus is always up to date.

@FlorianMargaine If you have ever developed for Linux you know that is utter nonsense. First of all, the distribution repositories have maintainers, if your application is closed source you won't ever get included in those and even if it is open source it might take a few years of extensive usage before it get's included in any major distribution. OSS isn't some kind of fairy land. Don't even get me started on incompatibilities and maintenance.

This doesn't really answer the question since it doesn't explain the reason. You did nothing but reiterate a fact.

comment Can I provide a GPL app, with different licenced logo?
Neither Firefox nor Truecrypt are GPL. Firefox uses its own license the "Mozilla Public License" and Truecrypt uses the "TrueCrypt Collective License".
