It is everything that goes into your software system. Both user interfaces and how it interacts with the device would be part of your architecture. Also any 3rd party components and/or any other components that are written that are not part of the two user interfaces.

comment Design strategies for storing and validating serial numbers
In your first paragraph you say: The string is separated into four sets. Each set is separated by a dash (so the s/n is 32-characters NOT including dashes). To me that sounds like the dashes are part of the serial number string.

comment Novel polymorphism - any reasons for this code?
What do you consider the super-type and sub-type in this example? It looks like two classes with similar names that both implement the same Interface and one class references another class.

comment Why isn't Java being used for web multimedia applications?
Just like you like to program in Java, other people like to program in PHP or ROR or Python.

comment The array class in C# - Implementation questions
@TheSilverBullet its not so much telling the user the class implements Clone(), rather its giving the user the option to create the method to take any class that implements the IClonable interface. Since it is reference by the interface, the method does not care what class is being passed since it only cares about the methods that the IClonable interface provides.

comment Is it possible to create a 2d game for both linux and windows with next to no changes?
I know you prefer C++ but Java would allow you to run your game in both Windows and Linux with very little to no changes. I know that Java is not very popular for game development but it can be done and solves your platform issue.

comment A question regarding linked list vs vector insert/remove results comparison
In the conclusion of the blog, the author references adjacent memory structure, Vector, and disjointed memory structure, Linked List. That is why the test says its faster to add to a Linked List as apposed to a Vector. The Vector will have want to put everything in a continuous block of memory. A better test would add traversal times, I think.

comment Problems Calculating Big-O Complexity
For #2, n is the list of int's. The for loop only loops through list.length/2 so that can't be O(n).
