comment Why is quality engineering difficult?
When development gets off schedule, development time creeps into QA time. Less QA time makes it harder to test all cases

comment MVC to create desktop and mobile webapps?
In any MVC app, the html is served by the server along wiht any CSS and Javascript files included. You have to build the CSS files and Javascript files to change the layout based on the window size. CSS and Javascript are served from the server, but are run at the client.

comment MVC to create desktop and mobile webapps?
You can use html/css/javascript to change the layout of your site based on the screen size of the device that requests the page. This is a front-end technique. please see this link - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Responsive_web_design

comment MVC to create desktop and mobile webapps?
You could use MVC and build the front end with a responsive design so that it will look good on any size screen. This way you don't need different interfaces. You can just serve one page for all devices.

comment We have a custom program that generates all the stored procs and classes for the Data Tier. Where will I put the generated classes?
Everything can be in one file, but the common practice is to keep them separate from the views and controllers.

comment Why do we write the action to be performed by a function in jQuery inside the parentheses?
When you say action to perform, do you mean the body of the anonymous function?

comment When should one use composition instead of re-writing the functionality?
Making a copy of those methods in class B sounds like the least efficient way to solve this since you will have duplicate code. However, can you be sure that the methods in class A will never change?

comment What about using MVC as the way to provide Responsive Web Design?
Your scenario does not make you site responsive. To be responsive, you have to account for all screen sizes, not devices. It is supposed to adapt to the screen size fluidly. In your scenario, your layout does not adapt to the screen size fluidly. Your scenario needs to send a request back to the server to create a new page.

comment IEC 62304 compliant Architecture definition
It is everything that goes into your software system. Both user interfaces and how it interacts with the device would be part of your architecture. Also any 3rd party components and/or any other components that are written that are not part of the two user interfaces.

comment Design strategies for storing and validating serial numbers
In your first paragraph you say: The string is separated into four sets. Each set is separated by a dash (so the s/n is 32-characters NOT including dashes). To me that sounds like the dashes are part of the serial number string.
