comment How do I know if the compiler broke my code and what do I do if it was the compiler?
@Thorbjørn Ravn Andersen: Yes, it is happy, yet when I look into disassembly I see that it does not quite what I asked for in C++.

comment Difference between networking programming and socket programming
@Anisha Kaul: No, "all possibilities" is a huge list. I'd name some widely used - Java RMI and .NET Remoting are good examples.

comment Difference between networking programming and socket programming
@Anisha Kaul: Okay, RPC programming is network programming (a subset thereof) and one important RPC concept is a so-called string binding - see msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa378691(v=VS.85).aspx You don't need that thing when programming BSD sockets.

comment How do I deal with a slow and undedicated colleague in the team?
@lttlrck: Okay, but then maybe that other developer just needs help to speed up work. If that work is not done faster that's a problem anyway.

+1 for the first paragraph. Also the OP says he wants good relationship with colleagues which somehow implies plural, but is mostly concerned with this unfair guy. Now he's working with that guy, tomorrow other co-workers will be working with that guy and get the same treatment. Addressing the situation will be beneficial to all those other colleagues in the long run.
