comment I've had 7 jobs in 16 years. Is that OK?
Have you tried everything? I'd imagine you've got enough money to start going down the list of things a human being could for do fulfillment and find one long before you came anywhere near running out.

comment Designing a Web Application with Two Different Backend Databases
I've done my best to make "Joins" between the two DBs as infrequent and simple as possible for that very reason. Both DBs are as independent as possible. Could you elaborate more on the connection pool? With the current set up, the SQL Servers are completely separate from the application so the connection is made when it is needed (which is most of the time). I don't really control the connection, just the credentials. If the client so chooses, they could turn off the server holding their data and the application would no longer function.

comment Which is better: to include HTML inside PHP code or outside it?
+1 For being good advice for everyone. Alternate control syntax and short tags are immensely important for getting started with templates and separation of logic from presentation.

comment Generating Deep Arrays: Shallow to Deep, Deep to Shallow or Bad idea?
To clarify, the end goal is a single, complex report. The complexity however does not come from user input (which is minor, usually 2 parameters, never more than 6), it comes from the data itself. It takes 7 SEPARATE queries just to get all of the data. From there it needs to be organized for output. Backbone.js is cool but because of the fact that I just need "click button, see report", I want to avoid too much fancy javascript. And I must admit, I'm struggling to get any existing MVCs to work for this situation, as it's a very non-conventional setup.

Trello also uses the History API and pushState extensively.

comment How do you measure yourself as a programmer?
Qualified enough to do what? Answer that question and then try to do it. Am I qualified enough to run a marathon? Try it and find out. The only scenarios this won't work in are thing likes medicine or engineering where the cost of failure is enormous. Coding, especially when you start out, isn't a high stakes game...

comment Is a simple iPhone app more appealing to users than a mobile website?
+1 You aren't building an application, you are building a website(from the sound of it). So it should be a website, not an application. It shouldn't even be referred to as web app, don't say HTML5. It's just a mobile website (images and text).
