comment What core skills does a new Computer Science Graduate need to be employable?
try being more specific than "programming" or "web design". Everything on this site is about programming. The OP specified quite well that he wants to know the core skills needed by a CS grad. When you try answering questions, read the other answers and make sure you are adding something that hasn't already been covered, but is still on topic with the original question.

Hi and welcome to programmers.SE - can you elaborate on your answer? The OP asked about sorting algorithms, but you answered with an implementation approach. Try explaining the algorithm behind temp-tables and how this can help solve the question at the top.

Welcome to programmers.SE! I believe the OP had trouble understanding the concept of the singleton pattern, and not an issue with finding a way to create multiple instances. Try answering what the user specifically asked.

First thing that comes to my mind is UML (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…) - which is a standardized way of visualizing different aspects of software. Have you checked if UML can solve your needs?

Welcome to programmers.SE! Can you maybe point the OP to some of those "right places to go" - otherwise your answer is not of any more help than telling them to "google their problem".

comment Does software in a professional environment need to be licensed?
@James - because creating an explicit license is more work, and if work can be avoided... you know how this continues :) A license needs to be validated by the Legal dept - and before I get them involved I better have a good reason.
