I am a student from the north of England, where I attended Greenhead College and completed A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics; and an AS Level in Government and Politics.

I am currently studying Mathematics and Computer Science at St John’s College, Oxford, and during the summer vacations I am an Internet Services Developer at Netcraft.

In 2011 I was a reserve member of the British Informatics Team.

comment Change of the complexity class through compiler optimization?
This could definitely happen for space complexity with something like removing tail recursion.

comment Is functional programming a superset of object oriented?
It's always possible to fake it - you can implement objects in any language you choose. I agree with everything else though :)

comment Am I right about the differences between Floyd-Warshall, Dijkstra's and Bellman-Ford algorithms?
I would still consider the first one to be Dijkstra's if it were stopped at a target node, but didn't use heuristics.

comment Is there any reason why I should use parentheses when calling new in PHP?
Yes, it's not really possible for one to be ambiguous in a programming language, as far as the computer is concerned, because it still knows what to do. Rather I meant that dropping little bits of unnecessary syntax here and there is a slippery slop of special cases that results in code that simply takes longer for other humans, or your future self, to understand.

comment Should a programmer take writing lessons to enhance code expressiveness?
A monotonous programming routine would perhaps be better addressed by a career modification than by writing lessons.

comment My work isn't being used… what can/ should I do?
Any VPS or probably shared hosting would do as well; it doesn't have to be an EC2 instance.
