Check the rules of logic. You can't prove a negative. What are the technical benefits of Websphere/Weblogic over Glassfish/JBoss? Also check the dictionary - that isn't what "entitled" means.

comment Should concrete classes avoid calling other concrete classes, except for data objects?
No, the question is how does a concrete class calling another concrete class violate OO design principles?

comment Is the singleton pattern prone to thread safety problems?
Not all classes have class variables. Classes that don't have class variables don't hold state. But the class may be a singleton whose instance is shared by all clients. Granted it's a non-issue because if the class weren't a singleton, calls to new wouldn't allocate any memory, just pointers to the same methods.

Singleton classes needn't hold state. Unless they're designed to. Global state has its place.

comment Does software testing methodology rely on flawed data?
"When we talk about improving software engineering, what is it that we want to improve?" That is certainly an interesting question. What makes software "improved"? And if it is, whose lives are improved? Users? Software business owners? Software business workers?

Eclipse compiles as you type, and of course a huge amount of software is written in non-compiled languages.

Can your bug tracking system send alerts to watchers when a bug is fixed? It would be noise to everyone else.

comment Does Dart have any useful features for web programmers?
Many modern programming languages (Ruby, Scala, Python) include some kind of multiple inheritance mechanism, and this is coming in JDK8. Is this planned for Dart?

Doug Crockford's comment is amusing: "So, I've thought for a long time... if I could take a clean sheet of paper and write a new language that retains all the goodness of Javascript... I would not have come up with anything like Dart."

His attempt to explain virtual base classes makes no sense at all. But maybe that's because virtual base classes make no sense at all.

I love how they throw in everything that's trendy on the cover C++! Web Programming! Object Oriented Design! UML!
