comment Are there any SQL servers that support compiled queries?
SQL Server 2014 supports natively compiled stored procedures in a limited set of circumstances. see mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/3065/… for some further info.

@DocBrown - in other words 9 out of 10 times, its a political situation rather than a technical one that drives software rebuilds!

I agree @JeffO - our team has next to no experience developing for the LAMP stack. We all have experience with .Net. I can say for certain that I am 100% more efficient in .Net!

Thanks, @DavidKaczynski - it is hard to give all the pertinent details without giving away some of the more private details. I agree that it is nigh impossible to answer some of the more abstract questions without at least some semblance of detail.

@GeorgeStocker as a new member it is so "off putting" to see people downvoting without offering an explanation. I use downvoting in various ways, and I always try to explain why. Again, thanks! Now I wish I could edit that comment, but no, time is up!

Thanks for that thoughtful comment. Upvoted. The issues are just as you suspect, both reliability from an exception handling point of view, and speed of the user interface are both concerns.

Good answer! Upvoted. I just read Mr. Spolsky's article - he sure makes a great point! Our network admin wants to provide thin-clients to our sales force (they are not mobile), with access to the app through Terminal Services, etc. I agree with him.

comment Proper Data Structure for Commentable Comments
I've corrected slight issues with the formatting and added a results table to show that my code does in fact answer the question quite nicely.
