comment When is Java a good choice for web development?
I'm not saying that the alternatives don't have decent tools. I'm saying that from all the alternatives Java has the biggest selection of mature tools, that are successfully used by enterprises.

comment How do you share your craft with non programmers?
Yes. The easiest answer is "I create stuff...more specifically, I create a high availability real-time cluster system, for..." - and here they are gone...

Head First series are impossible to read (at least I can't) because every page is loaded with different kinds of fonts/pictures/text layout/ text size. It's like a comics.

Indeed, but I don't think they are as powerful as Hibernate, Spring Framework, BPEL frameworks are.

Is there a way to make the skeptics to like the SCRUM? It's a bit weak thing to do - just don't use it if you don't like it.

The thing is that I'm a new employee in the company. I came when they've started using agile WoW. And my teammate works in the company for 15 years

comment Can One Get a Solid Programming Foundation Without Going To College/University?
I have a friend who has a degree in some <noname>, and he's successful Flash/PHP programmer. I guess it's all up to you. I for example have a degree in physics, but I'm a software developer. Two years ago i decided to get a Master Degree in CS, just because I wanted it, not because I needed it.

comment Question about programming in linux
+1 for mentioning NetBeans, I also find it a decent IDE for Linux and C++. But I'd also say that one should not rely completely on it. It's a great IDE for cross-references, code completion, auto-generation tools, debugger, but one still have to know make, gdb, and a source-control CLI commands.
