I am a Software Engineer and graduated from UC San Diego in 2009 with a PhD in Computer Science. My research interests include refactoring, software design, and programming language and tool design for aspect-oriented software development.

I currently lecture at UC San Diego. Previously, I worked at Sun Microsystems, The University of Texas at San Antonio, Basho, and Google. Prior to that, I worked at my mom's toy store.

comment Is “convention over configuration” not violating basic programming principles?
The concept of software traceability is relevant here. Programmers rely on tools like grep, but need better tools to trace over uses of generated code. For example, tools should make it more explicit that the css class "user-id" is related the generated method getUserId() and the table column user_id.
