I guess that is exactly my problem. I'm used to program in statically typed languages for years and I only switch to dynamically typed on occasion for specific tasks or to try something out.

@null: Yes I do at least kind of. If I expect a function to get a string passed to as a parameter I would also check that this function does handle invalid parameters correctly. Incorrect parameters could only be incorrect values but I think it's legit to test for incorrect types too (if possible like in JS).
