I'm a Delphi developer mainly, with 12+ years of experience, having done things ranging from ActiveX controls, maintaing and evolving systems to creating an (private) web service acting as business layer in Delphi.net.

I have some experience with C#/Vb.net too.

If is just a colleague, why bother talk about that at all? A close friend that switched jobs is another story.

Unless you have to edit the generated code - which are not DRY at all.... I had to do that recently - it's not pleasant at all. If I had to manually edit an autogenerated code base again, I'll charge thrice!!!

comment Why don't all companies buy developers the best hardware?
@Zan Lynx: (continuing) hardware failures can go exotic and create heisenbugs from the blue: Marco Cantù (distincted member of Delphi developer community) have saw this by himself in blog.marcocantu.com/blog/unbelievable_memory_failures.html

@Zan Lynx: many strange things happen on old hardware if the RAM modules start to fail. Frequent resets are a common symptom of such thing
