Changing the license in a fork from GPL to GPL compatible? @Ramhound These are new users who were wanting to use my fork. And there was interest at one time from a significantly larger project (maybe as a plugin) where changing a license is never happening. At least I have a chance to change it, but it means I'm no longer a fork and I'd most likely have to rename the project |

Changing the license in a fork from GPL to GPL compatible? So "GPL compatible" only applies to project dependencies, not to project forks? |

Why do some big projects, like Git and Debian, only use a mailing list and not an issue tracker? Good answer, but I would argue that your 3rd point is a major disadvantage of email: If a bug is hard to fix and the current devs are lazy it gets significantly more buried than an entry in an issue tracker. This could mean certain bugs are never fixed, simply because people don't know their there |

Why is Mercurial considered to be easier than Git? @Kyralessa This answer was written almost a year and a half ago, so things have probably changed. IIRC, all the documentation and the program told me that I had to use MinGW. It is an emulation of command prompt and does poorly. What if I forced you to use windows command prompt on Linux or a Mac just to use my special program? |

Why are there no package management systems for C and C++? While make does help the compilation part, I think the OP is talking about more of the packaging and repository parts of a build system |

Why are there no package management systems for C and C++? Wow, I wonder how they are going to fight 20 years of "We don't need a package manager!" |

How to maintain same code fragments on multiple projects -1 as well. I'm confused on how this is better than a shared library. This seems like just abusing git because you absolutely refuse to make a library |
