comment Container types in Golang
maps can be checked if they have a specific key: _, ok := m[key]. If the key was present, ok is true. Since Go doesn't let you override operators, "contains" doesn't make sense unless you have a container of builtin types.

comment Is there any reason to use C++ instead of C, Perl, Python, etc.?
Linus makes good points here and there, but as others have said, C is not the end all winner. Best tool for the job I always say. With C++ you can end up with some really nasty stuff though. @Nils I used to work for BioWare, and games really push C++ to the edge. Think of a C++ feature, and it's probably used somewhere in there.
