"Also, they are frequently useful in combination" How? It seems to me that subtyping and ad-hoc solve the same problem.

comment How are objects modelled in a functional programming language?
A normal association list [(Int, v)] will let you replace the value at any index in constant time by simply consing the new value. Downsides: the old value is still taking RAM and search is linear.

comment Why don't all companies buy developers the best hardware?
Many megacorps are such that dev time is wasted for much sillier reasons (like poor allocation of workload) -- so this is not a surprise to me at all.

Disagree with private offices. I work in a dev pod with 8 developers in an open concept and I love it! I love the freedom to turn just ask and be asked as we go instead of emailing or getting up.
