comment My boss has a bad case of “Not Invented Here”
One problem I see with this argument is that the happiness of the developers are at stake. This is never factored in to these business decisions. It seems like it always costs the business in the end by losing experienced devs.

@Tom But Scanner doesn't actually do any IO does it? It uses other IO elements to do the IO for it. You could use Scanner without using any IO right? (ie. a string)

Pair programming should be used on difficult tasks. That's when you're saving money and time. Otherwise it's kind of a waste. I like it though.
