comment Algorithm to create permutations for a given alphabet based on a sequence number
I also thought about number systems but couldn't get past the problem that the first item would be the neutral element and 00 would never be created.

comment How to simplify my complex stateful classes and their testing?
Good suggestion. This way each implementation has a clear focus which can be tested individually without having a 2.000 line junit class testing all states simultaneously.

comment For what types of applications is Python a bad choice?
This might not be 100% on topic of the question but still a valid point. Tooling support especially refactoring for dynamically typed languages is lacking compared to languages like Java or C#. Just renaming stuff can be an exhaustive exercise in large Python projects.

comment Why are people so strongly opposed to #region tags in methods?
@jjoelson please don't get us started on how bad global fields are. Saying something is not useful because you have a "workaround" to screw it up anyway is just silly. Just keep you methods short and variables scoped.

comment What are use cases and advantages of pointers?
I accept this answer because it describes best the difference I couldn't grasp between pointers in C/C++ and Reference in Java.
