+1 Nice answer. Gotta say sitting with an experienced programmer can be intimidating when starting out for new people as well. Speeding through stuff that would have taken you a substantial amount of time. But, depending on the kind of person you are things like that could be a motivating factor and light some of that fire in your belly. Pushing you to want to kick ass.

It is used to treat ADHD which is apparently very common in the programming community. I'd say drugs are not the be all end all but he does have a point.
