comment When should one give source code to a client?
no we cannt put it on opensource, i'm not against the idea; but in this case, if we do another company, who tries to duplicate our robotic device will use it. then we would loose our customer.

I'm concerned about that we now do also part of the assembly of the robot, there wasnt a good contract when we started they where desperated and we worked very hard night shifts to make it work. It's our because we invented the drivers, we invented the software. And originally they did not hire us to code but to make their hardware work in a way as drawn by a marketing burea; we all made that work, as sub contracter we are not part of their company, the software is like a car they buy a car from us, not the drawings to make a car on their own.

I voted you as answer, lots of referals to quite good books in the end, i just bought them. Besides that i subscribed to some youtube channels on my android just to keep in touch with the daily programming world, while i work on a single large project.

Its because of my background, partly i am new into programming for work, while on the other side i know a lot of languages. And therfore its like i need to some kind of news resource to keep up and to improve; i've been reading various books, one time i bought schoolbooks.. but i just feel that i should know more since i am leading a team of developers, i should be at their level. I dont need to be the best, but i need something daily besides my job to learn more, a magazine or RSS news feed (and i already read a lot here, but hack i cannot answers questions as often i would like too).

Thanks for the answer, in our team i have the better communication skill, i'm more like the team leader, while the others can be the code magicans. I see they know a lot of frameworks. And sometimes their code is deeper into C++ or c# then i was thought possible. Maybe every project has such magicans. They prefer how i create a GUI for program, they tend to prefer to code for example a specific protocol for a specifc device, while i think of usage and how the whole thing should work together. So we are a team. And then i think from your answer that i just should go on learning from my work.

comment Keeping git repositories on different hosts in sync
the main difference with gitt is that you got a local versioning system where is with xpdev its remote. the Latest version with xpdev is always local after you sync from xpdev

As for xp-dev its unlikely such company dies, they might change code hosting plans, prices, etc.. or merge with another company. But its a money milkcow for them. And they will also backup the valuable data. Its their business to stay in place. I use it with 3 developers, and our code exists at 5 different machines, where there is always a local source copy that gets synced at xp dev. XP dev is free if you have only a few projects.

i am using xpdev i wonder in your 2 system situation what the bennefit would be of rusing git in your case. just to be sure from every final build i make a usb backup. But basicly versioning is handled whitin xpdev so its not a real requirement. BTW if you own a fool proof NASS Raid1 or so you might consider running your own versioning systems there are some freeones too

well we have some standard but since we freelance besides our team, visual studio settings country settings all need to change, and sometimes people forget that and.. we get into coding problems. So i hoped that language of the code files could be set somewhere in the project..

comment The most human language like programming language
Well the background here is that i grew up with the age that it was thought computers could do everything soon we had human like robots, and AI's would be very human like and able to talk and understand. Close to those ideas where some programming languages and some early AI's. I've read books about self awareness inside some AI's (of-course never proven) though the general idea was that computers would become more human like. Programming them by english language. The closest thing of that is maybe IBM's watson machine, but its not based on algorythms that are readable english.

comment CCtalk is it still a modern protocol or is it outdated?
thanks i was just reading how cheap those lines where as compared to paralel-port lines. And why they where so good for modem connections using RS485 ... (its been more then 15 years ago i used a modem) it must indeed be outdated. Though it survives in an industry sector that doesnt change quickly.

@Earlz Well i hope for a reaction from another programmer, i'm not realy into electronics, i dont solder. The connector is fitted with a standard computer COM port (serial computer port communication, like used in an old computer mouse)

Excellent!, the order of images is of less importance, its more about detecting futures, and logging them.

Well GPU programming is beyond my level currently. I have read some material too about multimedia timer, but your link was new.. Isnt the standard .net timer good enough ? (the one that can be dropped on a form) for the 200 miliseconds delay; i wonder what the difference would be, perhaps you know what the differences are ? > oh forgot to mention not all images would take 1 sec most of them will go faster, but i was curious what would happen if a multi-thread could run twice are not at around the same time.

Aha thats interesting you see i am from the micro controller world and there one usually write decent c++ there is little room for error and good good design of software is the key thing to do
