comment Is there a way to check if redistributed code has been altered?
I think you misunderstood my question I need a way to determine if the code was altered not to prevent it but because support of the altered app will not be covered by normal monthly fee. I'm aware that there will be no 100% bulletproof solution but something that would require some level of experience with the PHP to bypass would be sufficient.

@Gaz_Edge Divide your app into two layers. On your server you keep db and API accessible as a web service. Your clients get code responsible for presentation and accessing your API. In this way you can control who is using your app at the same time your clients have more flexibility in using your app. It also can create additional source of revenue for you - customized changes on customer servers.

@coderabbi $user_repository would return only User objects so Single Responsibility Principle would not be violated.

How about $validation_date = $users_repository->getUser($user_id)->getUserValidationDate();

comment Date calculation algorithm
@JulianCuevas Divide each day into chunks eg 3h - 30m lunch break - 5h then add those chunks. I think that your question requires some clarification eg $duration_in_minutes represents shift time (so it is time per day) or it can be something like 120h and you want to calculate how many days it will take to finish aloted time.

There is no way to make "math based solution" because holiday distribution in a given year is random. You have to make a loop which will check for the each day whether it is a holiday, a weekday or a weekend and then add appropriate amount of minutes and check if you've achieved $duration_in_minutes

@mattnz Read question first. I'm not asking what to do I'm asking if my plan of maintaining two dbs a the same time is feasible

Management is concerned with a time frame as building original application took well over one year there are no nay financial concerns involved. My plan is to patch existing code to same state of usability and then all functionality which is new or requires update will be coded in the new version. So application will be running and at the same time slowly moving to the new version. Only problem here is that it would require using two different versions of db at the same time.
