comment Learning to program without a computer
If a computer is right out, you might be able to get your friend a TI calculator, the TI-83 and TI-84 each have the ability to write TI-BASIC programs.

comment To Press Onward or Not?
Well there in lies the problem: I don't find games fun, I'm not sure what gets people into games or why they like certain games, I find the challenge in building things fun. The concept itself is interesting, but like I said, I'm note sure about if it's fun, I've only really seen a quick demonstration, and haven't really been able to figure out what you can do in the game while playing it. As for making money, the main guy thinks it will, by using a real money to in-game money system, but I don't know...

comment PHP: brackets or no brackets with if/for/while/…?
I personally use brackets for anything that's only php, but if I want something inside of the if/for/while loop that isn't php (javascript or html), I'll use the : + end(if/for/while).

comment How are my licensing options limited when I use and/or include other projects in my own?
Actually, it explicitly says on the info page for soupselect.py that it's licensed under an MIT License.

If it's on Google Code it's open-source, in some manner. You can't host non-open-source on GC.

comment New cloud development workflow using Github, Cloud9ide and CloudFoundry
You can use a built in GitHub feature to alert a site (using post data) about an update. Using that, you could setup a server which knows how to pull and run any relevant scripts. Go into your project admin, go to the service hooks section, and setup the "Post-Receive URLs" for the script you write (if you write a script).

I'm also a little confused at your relation of java and actionscript, which aren't alike at all. Can you explain that too?

Out of curiosity, could you explain why you think Java is a bad OOP?

comment Is javascript worth learning if you do not plan on being a web developer?
really it's only good for webstuffs, because it requires some form of parser, most of which are only built into web browsers. I mean, you could build your own JS parser for desktop use, but than it wouldn't use most of javascript, which interacts with the html on your page...

comment Can I turn off Visual Studio white space at bottom of code files?
It's also there by default in Sublime Text, however in the user config file you can turn that off. Don't know about Visual Studio.

comment Why do programmers use or recommend Mac OS X?
@Jano: cs3: I didn't say it was released first. I said it was made for Windows first. linux: Not just for their clusters, their workstations are linux too.

comment Why do programmers use or recommend Mac OS X?
@mipadi: I'm amazed at what people on the Internet will argue sometimes. The Kernel is NOT opensource, prove it, I've seen no proof from you or anyone else showing me that Unix, which is the kernel, is open source. Demonstrate this, I'm not seeing a demonstration of my statement being false. Just because they've got some open source utilities? The kernel is not that.

@David Weta Digital, effects for Avatar, uses linux, the company that did Tron Legacy used linux. While traditionally Adobe has released for Apple first, starting with CS3+ they've written their programs for Windows first. You still haven't answered what niche apple caters to according to you. I'm not 100% against their hardware, in fact I believe their hardware is perfectly fine and pretty, but their operating system is useless.
