IMO this should be moved on StackOverflow where there is a lot of people interested on GAE. The risk to have it here is 1.OP won't get any answer 2.GAE community won't have the chance to read and answer on such a good question.

@Chad eheh nice one but the problem could be another; Python sdk is not part of the default installation of the development machine. In order to install it I've payed a lot of coffees to the right sysadmin ;).
