@Velociraptors, Your advice is probably the best. Just simply asking the copyright holder is by far the most straightforward and honest way to do things. Unfortunately they haven't responded yet.

This shows my ignorance, but thank you very much for being so explicit with highlighting that copyright and license are not the same thing. I always assumed as much, but didn't actually know the difference until I looked it up after reading your answer.
