I've been working with computers since I was little. My job experience has been in Information Technology and Security for a bulk of my career. Recently I've changed position to do Software Development mostly within the Microsoft environments.
I'm also going back to school to get a degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. To hopefully continue to expand my knowledge and continue to learn more about software development and engineering.

What can I do to maintain respect for a poorly written codebase? To also touch upon your answer a bit, I think that intself was the goal of DDD to ensure the business objective never lost focus even with all the hands being changed; but it does happen from time to time still. |

Questions about Polymorphism Well, I do have it as a separate class already. I could simply call the class; I think I found the exact goal of what I was trying to do. Which I'll post later today. |

Questions about Polymorphism I appreciate your reply, but I don't quite follow. I understand what you mean I think. My goal was to have a Derived Class to fill the value; your Property implementation is a nice way. But the problem is before a series of methods can invoke they need to have Administrative permission; but I didn't want to attach the class to each additional class; that was why I wanted to inherit to the Base Class then simply inherit the physical object with its similarities on all the other classes; then override them to test for IsInstalled. Is that wrong thought process? |

Questions about Polymorphism I've added the CheckUserLevel class which indicates how the value is filled. |

Questions about Polymorphism Added how _level is given a value. |

Questions about Polymorphism Thanks I'll take a look. I was essentially in this boat, I can't perform this task without proper Administration level. But I have a series that is similar to each other. But those similar classes need to ensure that Administration level first. |

My boss has a bad case of “Not Invented Here” Kudos, good answer and solid edit. @JoePhillips unfortunately the developers usually get the brunt of management fiscal decisions. I thought of a really nice feature for a project; I even had customer feedback that they wanted it- but it didn't warrant enough revenue so the idea was axed. And that is how the cookie just crumbles, or burns. So I can see both sides here. |
