My father peddles opium, my mother's on the dole
My sister used to walk the streets but now she's on parole
My brother runs a restaurant with bedrooms in the rear
But they don't even speak to me, 'cause I'm an Engineer

@johannes - while it will work, it would mean relying on some extra processing like compile/run time weaving, which would make the whole thing very complicated

@user61852 - imagine youre writing a framework that generates classes, and you want to allow "manual" overrides of specific methods, instead of simply switching generation off for a whole class. partial classes would be perfect for this

@ratchetfreak - this question came about because im writing an in-house code-generation framework (not ui-related) and this feature could indeed improve the quality of my life right now :-) doing the same thing with inheritence is not always possible, and even when possible creates all sorts of nasty corner cases since outside code can become aware of the inheritence hierarchy

comment When should the VCS history of a project be deleted?
so in short, the answer is "never", just archive it if it gets too large
