I'm a web programmer and soon to be Graduate Student at University of Colorado at Denver. My professional work has mostly consisted of ASP/ASP.Net/C# stuff. I know a little of a ton of languages, and I'm currently learning a ton of Lisp and C++ as I learn more formal computer science.

revised How to retain student/intern programmers?
This question and all the answers deal with retention, not interviews in the slightest, so changed to a better title.

comment What programming languages are well suited for developing a live coding framework?
What you are describing sounds a lot like how a smalltalk environment works. Check out Squeak, a free ST implementation: squeak.org (I'm posting this as a comment instead of an answer as I'm not sure if you want something pre-existing like this, or want to build something like it)
