Interpreted vs Compiled: A useful distinction? @WinstonEwert as of version 8, Mathematica can be compiled down to machine code which is dynamically linked into the kernel by setting the option CompilationTarget -> "C" on Compile. |

File shredder algorithm @MSalters, yes the entire grain points in one direction, but the quantization axis may differ from grain to grain, inducing some variation. This would be affected by thermal fluctuations, magnetic fluctuations from the read head passing over, or a neighboring grain being flipped. |

Is it acceptable to use lambda functions\methods in business software? I've also heard it called "execute around block/pattern/idiom" or "resource acquisition is initialization." It shows up in a lot of places. I've used it Mathematica. |

Can I be “too young” to get a programming job? further clarification, at least in NY you needed to be 16 to apply for more general work, 14 was restricted to farm labor and family businesses. So, definitely check local laws. |

Why to let / not let developers test their own work My favorite bug encountered by a tester was found by simply running two fingers down a touch screen; doing so caused the UI software to crash! None of the testing the developers had done even came close to doing this. |
