comment Are programmers good at learning “spoken” languages?
Programmers are notoriously bad at communicating through natural language, and for that reason - all programmers should write software as if their code will be maintained by non-English speakers. Think of the grief that can be avoided when source code is written intelligibly. E.g., is it intuitive to a native Mandarin speaker that "ls" is short for "list"? Someone thought two keystrokes was more important than clarity.
