How to prevent code from leaking outside work? "For example, we weren't allowed to bring music CDs into certain rooms because they could be CD-RWs in disguise." -- Thanks Brad! |

Is there a point to writing in C or C++ instead of C# without knowing specifically what would make a program faster? @mattnz, depends whether you can accept 100MB of dependencies or not. If you're writing a trivial command-line application with no real need for external dependencies then C++ is far more portable than C# |

What are the drawbacks when designing a class? @JohnFx, I'd assume it means the problems of OOP when compared to procedural or functional approaches. My theory-fu is weak on this one, I know the pain but can't articulate what exactly that pain is. |

What languages are the kids of today actually programming in? Does anyone have real data? @AnnaLear All ages would be ideal, but I'd imagine that 7-10 year olds would be mostly influenced by parents choices rather than their own (I know I was). I was thinking the best way would be to ask some high school teachers what their kids are hacking with, but they've most likely got too much paperwork as it is! |

What languages are the kids of today actually programming in? Does anyone have real data? @DanMcGrath I don't mean for teaching college students to understand the fundamentals of computer science, but from the point of view of inspiring kids to learn and get addicted to programming. They can learn to become software engineers later |

GPL'ing code of a third party? Yeah, just like I own the copyright on the text "Do something a certain number of times", which is actually 10 characters longer. |
