I currently run my own software business, mixing a combination of delivering fixed price software to customer specifications, and a more common contractor consultancy model. I have multiple scars from my past lives in the healthcare and embedded market places and my recent experience is managing small software teams in small companies whilst delivering solidly reliable product.
