Why are actual parameters called “arguments”? Reminds me of decades-old set of jokes about Klingon programmers: Klingon function calls do not have "parameters" - they have "arguments" -- and they ALWAYS WIN THEM. |

What are the pros and cons of Inter process communication done via sockets vs shared memory? @gbjbaanb I think technically you're serializing data if it gets transmitted as a sequential string of bits, no matter what the encoding structure is. |

Starting off with web dev with php @HorusKol - Riiiight... it's already several months old, totally out of date given the break-neck pace of language development. Except no. It's still made by the same people, supported by the same community, and built around the same lack of understanding of fundamental Computer Science principles; which is not common to other languages. The current track of development is like patching a papier-mâché barge with roofing shingles. |

Are these advanced/unfair interview questions regarding Java concurrency? The only think I'd worry about is to avoid getting into the weeds of "memorized facts" rather than "skills". |

Looking for best practice for version numbering of dependent software components +1 Brilliant example: "prices that end in '3' at a store near me are final sale prices...but it's not a great way to tell your customers about a sale." |

Looking for best practice for version numbering of dependent software components they just have an ever incriminating build number - Dear god I hope that's actually what you meant, it really changes the context of version numbers if they get increasingly incriminating. |
