Fav quote:

"The programmer, like the poet, works only slightly removed from pure thought-stuff. He builds castles in the air, from air, creating by exertion of the imagination."

comment When to favor ASP.NET WebForms over MVC
The problem is when a pattern is turned into a framework, that's my problem with asp.net MVC. You can use the same pattern and approach in web forms without the MVC framework. Since I originally commented (man this thread is old!) I've moved away from both frameworks. Its now mostly light services with pure ajax front end think SOA that I like :)

comment We have a large Ruby on Rails application (25 million monthly users), our management decided to rewrite in Node.js, am I crazy?
sheesh, all these hipster languages. A well written php application will scale easily, the traditional tools work, don't let those hipsters tell you otherwise.

comment Would a cut and paste coder ever get past a job interview?
@MartinBeckett depends on the problem, if all you want are non intelligent drones that just copy and past any old crap off the internet WITHOUT understanding what they are doing because this "saves you money". Then don't be surprised when the project comes crashing down in a ball of fire..

comment Why are there so many programming languages? Why are new languages still being made?
@GaryBuyn that's only a "+1 for evolution" if you subscribe to that viewpoint. For many, the animal analogy is a tiny bit too far.
