comment Are projects using frameworks not as good as projects using pure programming?
I would imagine knowledge of a framework can be a very useful and employable skill. In addition to this, a solid understanding of the core language is important as well. I've never professionally programmed so I don't really know, but I would think that knowledge of frameworks can only make you look better

comment Name of the Countdown Numbers round problem - and algorithmic solutions?
Ahh of course I didn't think about that. Maybe the problem is NP-hard like your answer suggests

comment Name of the Countdown Numbers round problem - and algorithmic solutions?
I just used a depth first search in my implementation, but I don't see why something like Dijkstra couldn't be used.

I solved this graphically - use nodes to represent the results of calculations and edges to represent operations that can be done on those numbers, then use a graph search algorithm to find the desired path

comment It's ok to study the C++ from a book that only support the 1998 version of standard?
actually nevermind, I see you said so you don't question the reason. Although I disagree I don't think it warrants a downvote, removed. edit: sorry can't remove it now
