comment What is the purpose of the “non-endorsement clause” in the New BSD license?
Yes I know (I call those OS's Linux too), but those operating systems aren't designed by Linus. Oh, wait, I think I misunderstood your answer a bit, maybe that was the point

"The operating system designed by Linus Torvalds" Linux is actually a kernel, not a full operating system.

@asattar This was back then. It's history now. Nowadays, OpenGL is better than DirectX. See blog.wolfire.com/2010/01/… for lots of reasons you should use OpenGL.

Sorry for replying to a 2 year old post but: Nonsense. Porting a game to Linux is very easy if you use a good cross-platform game engine, and it will work on most editions of Linux available.

@btilly Yes, I expect/hope others to implement it, too. That's what I meant.

@btilly Code should be documented indeed, but for file formats there should be a seperate documentation too, because that makes it much easier for other developers to implement your file format.

comment Should I fork in case the upstream deletes
"It is far more common that a maintainer leaves a project abandoned on the net than that they actively remove it." I had that the website of a library I needed was down. Luckily I was able to acquire the ZIP from another website. Anyway, forking is overkill, just keep a local backup of the files, just in case.

comment If my team has low skill, should I lower the skill of my code?
If they say they see it as "trying to be clever" they are likely just jealeous that you have more skill then them.

comment How do you convince management to throw away a prototype?
@Job Exactly what I thought! But that's only possible if you use the Swing GUI toolkit
