comment What to do when a company request permission to use open source code without attribution?
I like the directness of your response. Unfortunately, I have a soft side to overcome. I realised that binpress.com would be a nuetral way to complete the transaction.

Are any official procedures/license to use? I want them to be able to use the code in anyway they wish without crediting me; but I still own the code so that they cannot sue someone else later down the road for using the same code. I don't know if I make sense, but I just think there's some kind of loop holes that needs to be covered.

comment Should you keep a copy of all the code you write?
What if you are not in a software company i.e. sell the software you write for a living? Perhaps just internal software you write to improve business workflow? Does it make a difference?

comment How do I know if I am using Scrum methodologies?
Of course I don't really mean to confuse him, I just want to be able to tell him that my methodology is a formally documented, tried and proven one. That he should trust that this approach will work. But after reading many articles, i felt as if the idea of Agility is mostly in "spirit". The actual execution can vary depending on setups. So I am asking what else do I need to do to call myself agile.

My ongoing plan for porting to C# is using VSTO excel addin as a stepping stone. This way i get new features to work in excel, at the same time, I get to resuse the .NET dlls in the future if a C# winforms version is feasible.

If the management doesn't know that "Agility" is a formal methodology in the first place then how can there be scrum meetings at all. Furthermore, I only have myself to meet up. The bigger picture is up to his interpretation, mostly, he thinks excel is a "cheap" software and we should have a "proper" winforms app with sophisticated DB backend supporting offline/online access etc. I do keep a changelog but nobody is interested to read.

Sometimes it's not adding features, but how something done 3 week ago could have been done in a better way. In that case, should we go back and make the change and delay the rest or just leave it in its current state/mess. I find it hard to decide since the benefits cannot be measured immediately.
