comment How can I identify a namespace without using a string literal?
I agree with @BobDalgleish. Backup and take a look at why you need to identify the namespace.

comment Does Java development typically involve more subclassing than C#/.NET?
You, almost, never need to derive one class from another in Java. Instead, you can implement interfaces to achieve polymorphism and implement composed objects and proxy the method calls to achieve shaired functionality.

comment How to write a HTTP server?
consider reviewing other implementations, for instance apache tomcat. It probably does more than you want, but it will demonstrate one technique to solve the problem.

comment How do you balance out code structuring (few big functions vs. many small ones)?
people who say "function should fit on one screen" are goofs. The appropriate length of any function is "as long as required do the work". One long function is not harder to read than 5 short functions.

comment Are questions about the Singleton pattern a good way to evaluate a job applicant?
I agree that FizzBuzz is not a strong discriminator, but I believe that it is a good first discriminator. If somebody fails at writing a FizzBuzz, then there is no reason to continue the interview (for a programmer). Also, if I ask you (as the first question) to write a FizzBuzz and you end the interview, then I believe it was a successful question; you don't want the job.

I suspect you mean Agents, not Actors. If so, check out this wikipedia entry: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_agent
