How important is Domain knowledge vs. Technical knowledge? +1 For "complicated business" :) I have worked in banking domain before this and found it much more interesting and easier. Also, like you pointed out everything is done in Excel! |

How important is Domain knowledge vs. Technical knowledge? @Benjol Thanks for your reply. I too understand the importance of business. Its the reason these technologies exist. Trust me, I get this big time. My point is that a dev should have the bigger picture and focus on nitty gritties of the module he is working on. Is it wrong in saying that its very difficult to understand the details of the entire business? |

How do you answer the question, “where do you see yourself in 5 years?” According to The Oatmeal blog, you should really be saying this. |

Can I claim the website I made when the back-end technology such as MySQL and PHP weren't invented by me? This question made me laugh! |

Why do business analysts and project managers get higher salaries than programmers? "Dogs bark, but the caravan goes on." @Joonas Why such string sentiments? Are you a PM? :) |

What to do when coding begins to feel boring, like it is all just more of the same? +1 What good is aimless coding? Its akin to keeping on building a wall instead of a house. |

In what situations would it be technically 'impossible' to release a system as open source? While you make some valid points, I am not sure about not making OS open-source part. Linux, while being open-source, is much more secure than Windows. Even MS are now giving access to source code of Windows to selected developers who then point out vulnerabilities in the code. There was a critical update of Windows due to this initiative a few weeks back and was even in the news (though I am not able to find URL of that news article). |
