comment Why do game developers prefer Windows?
@greyfade nice thing to say, but I'm still waiting for a single game on linux with high production values (really, I am, I'd love to be able to play games and give up windows). So far I haven't seen any. Another key point about windows is that the users will (sometimes) pay for the games. I really don't know anyone who pays for any software on linux (and I don't either). But I do pay for video games.

comment Stuff every programmer needs while working
Make sure you buy a good one... it's easy for budgetary concerns to lead to cheapo SSDs which have worse write performance than a regular hard drive.

I agree with @JohnFx.. it's not set in stone that dual monitors are better. In a lot of cases I'd pick a larger single monitor over the dual monitor. In other cases I'd pick dual. Plus, there's something nice about having a monitor front and center. I think ideally there would be a very large center monitor and 2 smaller ones on each side. Bonus points if you have monitor arms and can move them around when needed.

comment Is the agile approach too much of a convenient excuse for cowboys
First, let me say that I am NOT a fan of agile. Second, I'll say that in my experience, "capital A Agile" just slows everyone down (including cowboys). I haven't ever worked in a situation where I felt that agile was enabling the so called "cowboy coder".
