comment How do I contribute to API documentation for open source projects
Slog your way through SourceForge, GitHub, et al, find projects with - in your opinion - poor, or no API docs and contact them. You might ask if you can help, or you might offer a fait accompli by writing the docs first then sending them and askign if they want to use them.

comment What is the way to understand someone else's giant uncommented spaghetti code?
That's the first thing that I do with any inherited code.

comment Unit test framework dilemma
A good point, but I can foresee them answering, "but those are not Gnome projects". Oh, well, so long as they actually unit test, I guess I can let them decide which framework(s) to use. If they want to use two, then that's up to them.

comment Configuration file for a generic log file parser
Alas, it has to support Unix. Company standard is Python & we are not afraid of the parsing part - just wondering how to structure the log file in a generic way, so that it is as future proof as possible.

Sigh , i have been round here long enough to know as much (+1). Before I get closed, can you name some of these FOSS projects which use Google Test, so that I can say something more then "a guy on the internet said so" ?

comment Unit test framework dilemma
"They" are another department of the same company, based on another continent. In theory, they report, or at least, deliver, to us. So, we could "order" them, but distance gives them a certain autonomy and, in any case, maintaining good relations is quite important. I think that my question (which I will update) boils down to - how widely used is Glib test in FOSS & would anyone object if we used Google Test instead (which seems unlikely)? I am seeking guidance before committing.

comment Eclipse unit test - one project per file/class?
Yup, that's my plan (+1). Ideally, I want to be able to test each file individually, but that seems like a lot of Eclipse projects to create.
